notes:
Were holed up in 29 Palms
(it's all that we can afford),
keepin' a very low profile,
cuttin' the status quo cord.

I found a dead praying mantis.
I hope she died in her sleep.
I pray the lord ... any lord ...
her soul to keep.

Suddenly I'm a workin' stiff,
no matter how flaccid I seem.
AARP and free prescriptions,
I'm livin' the fuckin' dream!

I found a dead praying mantis.
I hope she died in her sleep.
I pray the lord ... any lord ...
her soul to keep.

I'm feelin' lighter than air.
Medicated, without a care.
Life should be lived like a dare.
Earn the wear and tear...

I found a dead praying mantis.
I hope she died in her sleep.
I pray the lord ... any lord ...
her soul to keep.

The desert's a long way from where it began,
in miles and metaphor.
I'm a legend in my own mind,
livin' in my own folklore.
